 Career Workshops

We offer a variety of workshops to address the needs of the community and our clients.  Listed below is a list of our popular workshops; please ask if there is a particular workshop that will better suit your needs and we will develop class curriculum for your approval and built on your specifications.

  •  Interviewing Skills that Work!

Probably the most common misconception about interviewing for a new job is that an interview is like an interrogation.  People often see the interviewing process as one where a not-so-friendly interviewer asks a lot of very difficult questions while the interviewee, covered with sweat, tries to find answers for them.  It’s not nearly that bad.  The good news is that much of what will happen can be predicted in advance and prepared for.   Certain questions are quite predictable and a job seeker can plan and practice their responses in advance.  Attendees will develop a Position Statement that will include core information which will drive the direction of the interview.  This workshop helps the job seeker be confident in their skills and abilities and gives proven ways of presenting information that will land the job.

  •  Job Club Workshop

It's a well-known fact that the best way to find a job is through networking. An abundance of ready-made networking opportunities exists out there, but maybe none of them are right for you or accessible to you. One type of networking venue -- a job club -- could be a solution because it not only enables you to expand your network of contacts but also serves as a support group. The empathy and encouragement provided by supportive peers can be particularly uplifting in times of economic recession.  What ties people in a job club together is the need for mutual support and encouragement. People who are energized by social situations and tend to procrastinate on the lonely tasks of job-hunting will likely benefit from a job club. Those who are shy, insecure, or ashamed of having lost a job can get help from other job club members in overcoming these mental roadblocks. Job-club membership can stave off the depression that sometimes sets in during a protracted job search. The exchange of job leads, business cards, resumes, ideas, and information that occurs in a job or networking club can energize members and teach everyone valuable career strategies and techniques.

  • Resume Workshop

A resume is a calling card for job seekers.  This workshop is geared towards assisting participants in developing resumes that move them to the top of the pile.  By capturing the core information on the resume, job seekers will display their skill set and expertise in a manner that lands interviews ~ and ultimately the job!

Additional workshops include Internet Job Search Strategies, Developing a Network, After the Interview, Salary Negotiation, and 90-Days on the Job.  We also develop curriculum to meet the specific needs of our corporate clients and schools.
