Our Director's Message
For me, empowerment is everything! I want each and every one of you to be empowered to take control of your own life. Who knows better than you and me about those desires of our hearts. You define your life; your life doesn't define you!
I would like to inspire you to rise to public leadership and community service during these times. Please know that as I issue this inspiration that I do it with full understanding of all you must face in the world we live in. Women continue to juggle so many responsibilities in the home, workplace, and community. It is difficult to think about adding one more task to the "to do" list. The thought of filtering in the work of public leadership may seem overwhelming at this time. Given this, I want to provide some tips to support you during this journey. When I look at women who have woven public leadership and community service into their daily routines they have a few things in common. For example, they clearly understand the connection between who they are, how they serve, and healthy communities. They've come to understand that in order to get your piece of the pie you have to pull up to the table - even when the tables are in the kitchen, city hall, and corporate board rooms.
As we know, high-striving women seem to live with a tremendous pressure to have it all, do it all - and right now! No one achieves her dreams and desires all at once, even if she can name them at the outset. Don't confuse your resume with your life. Over time, life itself is the achievement.
Most importantly remember, during these uncertain times that it’s not what you go thru but how you go thru it. With this said, go out today and spread love; touch hearts and allow someone to touch yours; share yourself with the world ~ if you don’t you’re robbing the world of a wonderful gift. You are empowered to take ownership of your own imprint and impact. You owe it to yourself. Just do it!
In the spirit of unity, spread love & be blessed today and always!
With a full heart,
Sonya Lowe
